This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of light vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

Pathways information

The skill set may only be undertaken in addition to:

  • Certificate III in automotive electrical technology or equivalent
  • Certificate III  in light vehicle mechanical technology or equivalent

Or as part of one of the following:

  • Certificate IV in automotive electrical technology or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in automotive mechanical diagnosis or equivalent

Skill Set Outline & General Information

Statement of Attainment

These units of competency are drawn from the AUR Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package and meet the needs of automotive mechanical and electrical technicians required to inspect and service hybrid electric vehicle systems and components.

Licensing/Regulatory Information

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements may apply to this skill set. Readers should ensure that they have also read the part of the Training Package that outlines licensing and regulatory requirements

 

Duration

The participants for this program must meet the mandatory entry requirements of those who being employed in an automotive garage (full-time or part-time) and have access to workplace observation and supervision by a supervisor; possess a Certificate III, trade qualification or higher-level qualification in Automotive and have at least 1 year automotive industry experience, and have current industry knowledge and skills of using automotive tools and equipment.

Given the nature of targeted participants, the training and assessment component for this program is delivered in 65 hours: during Five 5 weeks (2 day per week or equivalent).

(This includes background reading, research, classroom discussion, practical activities and assessment)

It is also suggested that each week students should allocate time for background reading, research and participate in forum discussion

Skill Set Overview and Entry Requirements

  • Be physically fit to fulfil the training and assessment requirements of this program.

  • AURETH012 Service and maintain electrical components in hybrid electric vehicles

Material and Equipment That Students Must Provide
