This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry

Note: Some assessment tasks are performed using an online learning computer and the Internet must be available for the student, and it is critical that students have basic computer skills.

                   COURSE OUTLINE AND GENERAL INFORMATION

Location of Training

Training will be delivered at UTA Institute of Technology, 58 Newlands Road, Reservoir, Victoria 3073.

There is no government funded place for this program.

Study Mode and Duration

Face-to-face and online learning. Total of 590 hours will be delivered in 31 weeks (full-time) or 62 weeks (part-time) (Excluding public holidays)

Materials and PPE

Students must bring their own personal protection equipment to class. Personal protection equipment must include a minimum of: steel cap shoes, safety glasses and overall or equivalent.

Qualifications and Recognition

To achieve this qualification, you must successfully complete 12 units of competency 1 core units plus 11 elective units. On completion, you will be awarded the AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive Technology

Students who partly complete the program will be issued a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

UTA Institute of Technology recognises qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other registered training organisations under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Language Literacy Numeracy

At UTAIT the ACSF core skills entry levels for each course are determined by referring to the foundation skills in the training package. Core skills are assessed using an approved industry specific paper-based assessment tools to assess an applicant’s LLN capability. For the AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive Technology on a scale of 5, students are expected to achieve the following levels for the five ACSF core skills areas:

  • Writing: 4
  • Oral communication: 4
  • Numeracy: 4

Entry Requirements and Identifying Learner Needs

  • Students must meet the following criteria in order to enrol in this qualification:

Pre-requisites:

  • To enrol for the AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive Technology, applicants must have completed an automotive Certificate IV qualification in one of the following qualifications or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
  • AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
  • AUR40816 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling

 

  • No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

Prior Learning Recognised

  • UTAIT provides the opportunity for students who apply to have prior learning recognised towards a qualification or units of competence for which they are enrolled in. Refer to UTP26 – Recognition Policy and Procedure.
