This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Study Mode:

Training will be delivered at the UTA Institute of Technology campus which is located at: 58 Newlands Road, Reservoir, Victoria 3073.

Delivery Location & Assessment Mode:

Face-to-face, combination of theory, practical and/or project assessments. Located at: 58 Newlands Road, Reservoir, VIC 3073

Entry requirements:

Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

English requirements: Completion of year 11 or equivalent. (Subject to the assessment and approval of UTA Institute of Technology Admission team.)

  • must have an IELTS score of 5.5 or
  • must have a TOEFL iBT score of 46 or
  • must have a PTE Academic score of 42 or
  • must have a Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score of 162 or
  • must have an OET score of B for each component

Duration:

  • International: 36 weeks including 4 weeks break (All the courses for international students are run over 2.5 days for a minimum of 20 hours per week)
  • Domestic: 36 weeks (may vary depending on the cohort and industry requirements)
