Entry requirements explained

English & core skills

Course admission, qualification level and English evidence are separate decisions.

Where the requirements come from

The National Training Register specifies qualification and unit entry requirements. UTAIT’s approved training and assessment strategy maps the selected course’s foundation skills and establishes the admission and support process. Published IELTS criteria are institute admission requirements; student-visa English criteria are set separately.

ACSF Levels 1–5

The Australian Core Skills Framework describes learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy. A learner can have a different level in each skill. Certificate II, III, IV or Diploma titles do not automatically establish ACSF Level 2, 3, 4 or 5 entry scores.

What is checked before enrolment?

ASQA requires prospective students’ language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills to be considered against the intended training product. The assessment identifies suitability and support needs. Where a course page shows a published numeric benchmark, its source is identified; missing profiles require the approved course strategy.
